Opportunities for improvement
- Since February 2019, Linde and Praxair have been operating jointly under the name Linde PLC. This merger of equals, including the promised restructuring, offers the opportunity to cut out double standards. We advise the market leader in gases to use the strictest legal standard for its overall global production.
- Linde should phase out the few SIN List chemicals it still produces to reduce the hazards even more. Some of the uses can be very specific, however, and need long-term substitution. Therefore, it’s all the more important to start right away.
- The Fred Butler company was rolled out to implement textile cleaning processes using CO2 instead of the hazardous PERC. The business was eventually discontinued due to low demand at the time, but the intention was good. Linde should use the lessons learned and try again to cooperate with partners to develop safer and healthier products and processes.
